Introduction
In modern society, e-business is on a miraculous rise. Through the internet this medium, we can easily do business with others without face-to-face meeting or long-distance travel. Indeed, it has changed modern businessmen's precept on commerce and brought much convenience to more and more common people. The successful online business website Dell(Dell.com), Alibaba (alibaba.com) and Taobao, these e-business websites are known by most businessmen and even common people. We can say modern e-business has won a place for itself and achieved success in many ways.
1.The scope of e-business
1.1 Difference between business-to-consumer (b2c) and business-to-business (b2b) transactions
E-business has a big scope. The most common patterns are as follows: business-to-consumer (b2c), business-to-business (b2b) and consumer-to-consumer (c2c). Business website Dell(Dell.com)belongs to b2c pattern, Alibaba (alibaba.com) belongs to b2b pattern while Taobao belongs to c2c pattern. Then I will mainly introduce the differences between b2b and b2c.

B2b means business to business, as in businesses doing business with other businesses.1 In details, that means e-business between merchant to merchant, and here merchant mainly stands for enterprise. Through the internet, one enterprise makes exchange on products, service and information with another enterprise. The internet is used as a platform for both sides to finish business process. The process can include many contents: issue supply and demand information, order goods and confirm goods ordering, make the payment, issue, transmit and receive bills, ensure delivery methods and monitor the delivery process, etc. B2b has many actual examples. Made in China, TRADEKEY and Ecplaza are all this pattern.
B2c pattern is the earliest e-business mode in China. It mainly means online-shop, which is offered to the consumer by certain enterprise. Actually it is a new shopping environment. Through the internet, Consumers shop and make the payment there. This pattern can save both the customer and enterprise's time and space, and greatly improve the dealing efficiency. Especially for those office workers who are busy at their jobs. This pattern can save a large amount of valuable time. B2c also has many real examples such as Taobao, Dangdang and Yisi, etc.
So we can easily understand the difference between them. The target customer is the biggest difference. B2b serves merchant while B2c serves common consumers. Besides, the quantity of dealing may be different. On b2b pattern websites, usually the order consists of a large number of the same goods while on b2c pattern websites, the common order may be a single product or various products of a series. What's more, the price between these two patterns is also a wide gap. For the same product, if it is sold on b2b pattern websites, the price may be much lower than it is on b2c pattern websites. The reason is very simple. Usually the quantity through b2b is large so the price is close to trade price, while the quantity through b2c is relatively small, so the price is much higher and approaches retail price.
1.2 The main advantages of e-business to both sides of trade comparing with the traditional trade pattern
Why is e-business pattern more and more welcome by whether seller and buyer? Apparently it has its huge advantages over the traditional trade pattern. Now, I would like to introduce its advantages one by one through a shop in Taoba as follows:
First, it is on investment and risks. To open an entity shop, the seller should cost a large amount of capital to fit up his shop, pay an expensive rent for the shop, employ some shop assistants and pay utility bills and even taxes and dues. While on a Taobao online shop, these are all unnecessary. On Taobao, when you have issued 10 different products, you can have your own online-shop for free. And in online-shop, you can bring in goods according to the customers' order, thus avoid occupying a large amount of capital for stocks. And in this shop, there is no need for you to guard and watch and you can have no worry about stolen and force majeure like fire accident. 2
Second, it is on management type. To open an entity shop, the management is very complex. Goods and employees' management is all seller's duty, while in Taobao shop, it is more worry-saving. The most tired thing may be no more than just chatting with the customer, to ensure their demand and condition. 3 We all know Taobao shop is through the internet, the manager can be either full-time or part-time, and the operating time is also very flexible. So long as your server has no problem, your on-line shop can operate 24 hours a day and 365 days a year without interruption. Whether it is windy or rainy, and whether day or night, you can also operate as usual. Besides, on-line shop is not restricted by operating spot. It mainly depends on the flow rate, so even if you are in a very narrow street alley, you can operate your on-line shop.
Third, it is on coverage. In Taobao on-line shop, you may face customers from all China or even the world, and this is an obvious advantage over the entity shop. No matter how large the entity shop is, its customers are limited to certain region. While the customers shop online, they can be everyone. On condition that you have a computer and open the internet, your shop can be found and has a big market share.
Finally, it is about aging and payment terms. On-line shop has a better timeliness, and it is more convenient and swift. Customers can find many products in a Taobao shop which they can't see in the entity shop. Besides, payment terms are usually very important for customers to buy a product. In on-line shop, the payment method is very secure. Especially for some products, they can be paid after used, and the goods' rejecting is also a convenience. Alipay is a good payment platform which is very convenient and safe for both seller and buyer, and it has more advantages on goods' rejecting. So long as the reason for rejecting is rational, common seller will agree. While if you have bought a secondary product from an entity shop, the rejecting may not be so easy.
